Art Basel 2023
🔆 Sunday Morning Coffee With Sunny Jiang — Cup.16
Honored to be VIP of Art basel 2023. A very pleasant visit last week in Basel. Several highlights:
284 leading international galleries were in art Basel this year to present the highest quality artworks across all media — from early 20th century Modern pioneers to contemporary practitioners. A special area was designed for the emerging artists — the rising stars, which I find very interesting.
Unlimited: Art Basel’s pioneering exhibition platform for projects that transcend the classical art fair stand, including large-scale sculptures and paintings, video projections, installations, and live performances. 76 projects were selected this year — the unlimited night on Thursday evening was an absolute success!
It was amazing to meet some old and new friends (again) in Hauser & Wirth, White Cube, Landau, Ben Brown and many more — several are very successful family business. Unique “working” experience in the collectors lounge — where I had all my calls and meetings and the exclusive blockchain art talk
There is a public art walk route around Basel city with Parcours — outdoor art and a floor for Art kids: a very kind and considerate space for children to explore and experience art.
Last but not least, great to experience Glacier Dreams from Refik Anadol x Julius Baer in Theater Basel: An AI generated installation inspired by the beauty and fragility of glaciers, out of 85 Million images and real-time sound bites alongside an extensive collection of weather data. An intersection of new media art, machine learning and environmental studies!
