Yes, it is true. The great Huntsman spider, also called cane spider or crab spider, now lives in Florida. You might have seen the terrifying images of these giant crab-looking spiders in Australia and Asia, but did you know you may have them in your yard or lurking in your home in the U.S.? At some point, Huntsman spiders decided to climb onto freight, most likely bananas, and travel overseas, and now are residents of Florida and several other states. I’ve had encounters in my yard and community, and a neighbor had a very large one in her home recently.

These spiders are quite the sight to see and an absolute nightmare encounter for anyone with arachnophobia. The average huntsman spider’s legs span out over 5 inches in length, and the body of the spider can range from an inch or two. Some grow even larger.
