Why do NFL teams spend such high draft picks on players they really don’t accept as they are? It’s as if the teams had secretly agreed to waste these picks and ruin all the spread-option quarterbacks they can get their hands on until colleges learn their damn lesson and go back to running the West Coast Offense — meaning, going back to being a farm system for 6-foot-6 bricks who stay in the pocket. Because the schools do understand that recruits only love them for their route to the NFL.
