What to expect in Bhopal.

When we think about Bhopal, we mostly think about the tragedies and not the amazing sites to see and the food locally given out. This is the thinking process we need to eradicate. People think that Bhopal is full of very dumb and idiotic people whereas this is not true as many talented people like Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Former captain of the indian cricket team, Saif Ali Khan, one of india’s most accomplished actors in the scene, and many more to come. See? This ideology is wrong to be even thought about. Legends aspire to be one of them.

— Heritage Sites.

The Gauhar Mahal. One of the many local tourist sites

Look at the picture to your left. It shows us the picture of the Gohar/Gauhar Mahal. Built in the reign of the first woman ruler Qudsia Begum (reigned 1819–1837) who was nicknamed later on to be “Gauhar”. It is said to be known for its Indo-Islamic architecture and according to the heritage and architecture expert Savita Raje, “it is unique among the contemporary palatial structures in other parts of the country in the sense that it has no separate designated parts for women and men (mardana and zanana) since the ruler herself was a woman.”

— Food around Bhopal

Aloo Poha. :)

As for food, Bhopal is known for its sumptuous breakfast starting with hot piping poha with sweet jalebis or samosas is local favourite. One of famous dishes found and made here is Bhopali Gosht Korma Recipe. It is found most restaurants but many people go out to the Filfora restaurant for lunch.

— Festivals in Bhopal

Other than all Hindu Festivals celebrated all around the world, Bhopal does also have a Muslim population. One of the major events in Bhopal is the Ijtima.

Every year Alami Tablighi Ijtima is celebrated for three days in the city of Bhopal. This three-day religious congregation of Ijtima is one of the most important festivals and events celebrated in Bhopal. This event is held every year and is accompanied by a gorgeous carnival where all the people bring out a lot of Afghan and Mughlai food. Previously, it was celebrated in the premises of the Taj- ul- Masjid but very recently the venue of this congregation has been shifted to Ghasipura, a place near the city of Bhopal.

Muslim pilgrims from various corners of India gather in Bhopal on this occasion. This event of Bhopal is probably the second largest gathering of the Muslim community in the world that does not have any political affiliation. However, Hajj is the biggest one.
