I find this fascinating.
I think it is clear that these three Republican Party “founding” principles are sorely lacking in today’s Republican party. Their policies and rhetoric deny freedom to practice non-Christian religions, they do not support the movement for equal rights for the LGBTQ community and they do not support justice for Black victims murdered by police.
If you are truly grounded in those three principles, why not choose a party that supports them today? What is it about this party affiliation that is so deeply entrenched in you, that you don’t simply choose another party more in line with your values?
Parties will shift based on the preferences of the members. If the Republican membership at large prefers bigotry, how is it possible for your voice to change this?
What is it exactly that keeps you affiliated with a group that does not respect your rights?
Are you sending a message to young Lesbians that it is OK to be denied basic human rights as long as you just keep on mentioning it at the appropriate committee meeting?
I wish you would expand more on exactly what ties you so strongly to the Republican party in the face of blatant discrimination.
