You want help to solve this problem you are having? My suggestion is to stop looking for techniques and approaches like it’s an isolated problem that you spend a portion of time on. Instead, try to just totally re-set your core ideas about ‘normal’ and ‘valuable’.
The value of diversity is not just something you learn intellectually, not an item on your to do list. It’s something you internalize and live.
Imagine it’s like you are in the movie the Matrix and you took the red pill and now you realize an all white male world is total artificially constructed facade. It’s a sham.
Now that you’ve taken the red pill, you don’t ask permission or look for techniques. You overhaul your entire baseline perspective.
You new view is that diversity IS reality. It’s normal.
Lack of diversity is NOT normal. It’s oddly dysfunctional.
All white-male-ness is outright weird and abnormal.
I mean, imagine your workplace as entirely homogenous with some other type of person other than white men. Would you consider that normal? No. You’d be like, ‘why is everyone who works here a Costa Rican woman?’ or whatever. You’d feel like there’s some kind of weird irrelevant screening thing happening, assuming it wasn’t a company exporting breastmilk to Costa Rica or something. I mean, there’s just no logical reason for homogeneity.
So don’t just accept all white maleness as a norm, recognize it as just as disturbing sub-optimal fuckery.
Put a really high value on working and living in a more optimal, natural, diverse group.
Do it in your personal life like your mental health counts on it. And do it at work like the success of your company depends on it.
Embrace diversity unabashedly, unapologetically, enthusiastically, in everything you do.
