Learn and swim along in your career

Hello world!

I have been looking for a medium (no pun intended) to translate my thoughts into words and share my learning. Here’s my first blog that takes you on that road by taking you through my professional experience!

Having begun my corporate journey in General Electric, I had learnt to swim across different domains of human resource management. On excelling in my work, I was selected for Human Resource Leadership Program (HRLP) which enabled me to transcend the boundaries of business and continents.

My next stroke was my stint as Assistant Vice President at Genpact and Vice President at Cranes Software Internal Ltd where I focused on organizational development. This required a deeper understanding of the organization from the vision to team structures, from culture to leadership and from recognition to operations.

The current changed my course to an entrepreneurial direction. I started my own venture to address the skill gap by introducing vocational skills in educational institutes in collaboration with London Chamber of Commerce. Along the way, I learnt that being an entrepreneur triggers a survival response that keeps you from drowning in turbulent times. More about this in my next blog!

I returned back to Corporate waters where I headed integration of business acquisitions of telecommunication companies at Alcatel-Lucent. Heading talent acquisition and diversity and inclusion, I had the opportunity to shape the culture from the very foundation of an organization.

In my next role at SanDisk as Senior Director of Human Resources, I was responsible not just for the execution excellence at every strata of the organization but also for the community relations activities that gave back to the society.

The hydrodynamics was so strong that I took on as the Acting India site Head leading the integration of businesses in India region post acquisition of SanDisk by Western Digital. Now, in my current role as the Vice President and Country Manager of Western Digital India, I oversee market development, government relations, company branding and India operations to drive engineering excellence.

Swimming in the open water or Corporate waters is a daunting exercise, but trust me, you’d learn every different stroke there is, only when you work your way through it. Take a deep breath and dive in!

~ Until next time,
