Dummy email addresses from one Gmail account

Are you tired of creating dummy email addresses?

This story begins when I was tired of so many alternatives for creating dummy email addresses. As a profession of my duty is testing an application. So I need an alternative email address to test the various applications and web forms. Early days I was used the Mailinator and MailCatch. But it was a real hassle for me to navigate to that mailboxes and checking the available email address and fill it back the testing applications vise versa.

One day I got some hint from my friend to use the existing Gmail address to generate multiple emails with adding an alias to the email address and it works for me. Here is the tip.

Append a plus (“+”) sign and any combination of words or numbers after your email address. For example, if your name was testingKing87@gmail.com you could send mail to testingKing87+S1@gmail.com or testingKing87+mailinglists@gmail.com.

For me, the real value is being able to manipulate your email address is that it makes it really easy to filter on those variants. For example, you could use testingKing87+S1@gmail.com when you testing for online banking and then set up a filter to automatically star, archive, or label emails addressed to testingKing87+S1. You can also use this once our testing is done and if you need to clear the mailbox, you can just filtered to auto-delete.
