The Loving Warrior: Unbending Intent….the Edge of the Abyss and the Last Battle

If Energy is primary for Warriors, then we must understand, and cultivate, the ways in which we Align our Energy. We all move through space and time… we make decisions as to what we do… whom we support… how we support them… the organizations we participate in… the Communities and Tribes we are developing… and so on…

Energy is a motive force… it is Spirit manifesting in the material plane through us… yet we are conscious beings that have the power to choose… and to influence ourselves and our contexts.

Energy must be allocated judiciously…Impeccably… but what can we say about this?

The Power of Intention

Warriors understand the power of their Consciousness… the impact that their thoughts have on those to whom they are directed. The understand the relationship between the directedness of their Consciousness and the world they stand in relation to…

This relationship we refer to as Intention…

That we are Intentional beings is reflected in the reality that we move forward in Space and Time… that we are in continual motion… that there is a thought that follows ones previous thought… that one’s body moves… whether we like it or not.

That we are ‘directed’ in this way is to say no more than we must be Intentional… we must show up with purpose… with precision… with an idea of how we choose to direct our Energy…

What can we say about the quality of our Intent?

Cultivating Unbending Intent

It is Unbending Intent that must be cultivated…. we work towards the sense in which our Intent is unwavering… precise… directed… focused…

Of course, this is much easier said than done since real life involves responsibilities to others, work commitments and a myriad of destabilizing influences that serve to make us loose our footing. Unbending Intent is not a destination… it is a path that we work towards that might be understood akin to a state of Enlightenment… for it is a state of clarity that allows us to extricate ourselves from the vagaries of the moment.

Unbending Intent must find its birth in states of Instability… when one Questions… To be Unbending is simple when Clarity is present… just as it is easy to go to the gym regularly when one is motivated… when one has momentum… the challenge is in Transmutation of Energy… of maintaining ones centre… ones equilibrium…. in the face of instability/uncertainty…

The Genesis of Unbending Intent must be an unwavering commitment to one own path and priorities… these priorities can be reflected in goals… missions statements etc. to some extent… but their source lies deeper… in a commitment to ones Energetic Body… to ones states of Being.

One cultivates Unbending Intent through a continual dialogue with oneself… a reflection on ones internal states… a reflection on ones sense of harmony/disharmony… It is the result of internal resolution…

It is the Warrior that can find within themselves the necessary resolve…Furthermore, Unbending Intent makes it possible to show up in the moment with Power… Potency and Precision…

The Last Battle and the Edge of the Abyss

Two important concepts for Warriors are The Last Battle and the Edge of the Abyss. Taken together, they give one a sense of how to act with power and precision in the moment.

The Edge of the Abyss: as Warriors we must be present in the moment as if we are on the edge of a precipice and the decision to take action is akin to the decision to go over the edge… we take each step with precision and full alertness realizing that a slight misstep could be a disaster… we keenly survey the context we are in… examining the path before us… we stay in communication with those walking with us…alerting them both of potential dangers as well as possibilities….

The idea is that we must not take any moment for granted, for through the power of Intent, what preceded this moment gave rise to the current moment… and what will succeed from this moment has been birthed in this moment…

The the Last Battle: one should consider each and every action as if it were one’s last act on earth; an act of tremendous importance in that there will be nothing further to follow. In taking these two notions in conjunction, we see that Warriors are considered in their action but when they decide to act they do so with conviction. The decision has been made after much reflection…

The idea is that when one acts, one should act with total commitment, total confidence and complete fearlessness. One must totally commit!

“Acts have power… Especially when the person acting knows that those acts are his last battle. There is a strange consuming happiness in acting with the full knowledge that whatever one is doing may very well be one’s last act on earth. I recommend that you reconsider your life and bring your acts into that light.” — Castaneda

“Let each of your acts be your last battle on earth. Only under those conditions will your acts have their rightful power. Otherwise they will be, for as long as you live, the acts of a timid man.” -Castaneda

A Warrior is fully alive during every moment of her life. He wastes no time whatsoever. The warrior takes nothing for granted and is grateful for this moment of life since she knows with certainty that she could very well be dead momentarily. With this knowledge, the Warrior approaches each moment with an awakened mind, an alert spirit and on the tip of her toes! The warrior is always ready to act with power and without fear.

In thinking about the way that these three concepts (Unbending Intent, the Edge of the Abyss and the Last Battle) arerelated to each other…

We might say that every moment is both actualization and possibility…. in the direction of our Unbending Intent!
