Ideation/Sketching Sprint

In this sprint, I came up with 10 innovative ideas with a commuting theme. I thought of ways to make commuting more fun and efficient. I drew each idea in a sketchbook and picked one idea to create 10 more variations of. I created 10 variations of a car that brushes your hair in the morning, to save time when commuting. My original sketches can be found here where I try to make commuting easier. I also tried to sketch these ideas in a short amount of time so I could come up with more ideas.

A problem I encountered while sketching was thinking of variation ideas. I picked my favorite idea and drew variations, it was difficult to think of more ideas that I would like. In the future, maybe I can give myself more parameters to think of more variations because it was difficult building off of just one idea.

Did you get stuck? If so, how did you continue to create more sketches?

I got stuck for a very long time before thinking of new ideas. To create more sketches, I thought of my own commuting experiences and how I could create things to make my commute better. I also thought of other ideas that had to do with commuting and put them together with my own ideas to invent new ones.

This type of work can potentially make a difference by creating new ideas that can benefit society. There are always better ideas. For example, creating devices for third world countries can make a difference. With human-centered design, sketching can help engineers create water filters or sanitary equipment for people to use. Sketching can give an insight into what ideas in someone’s head will look like.
