I had something like that happen on LinkedIn. I was on a group that is popular in the furniture industry. I got pretty good notifications about comments on there. I had a small following on it. I had some business deals cooking on the side. Unfortunately, I got a few bogus school offers mixed in with it all. They became more frequent. They were aimed at people in developing countries and were 3 day, unaccredited courses dealing with design. They were around $2,000 each, plus travel, accommodations, food and more. They looked to be worth something in the area of nothing at all. After I’d gotten a dozen or so of them in the course of a few months, I sent one to group moderation. Guess who owned the bogus school? Yep. One and the same. They instantly shut off my access to the group.
