Hi Ian,

I agree that word count is the “standard” by which authors, contests, NaNoWriMo, and even agents, editors and publishers judge the length of a work. Of course all those words could be ridiculous and the finished product worthless. I guess they have to have some way of judging the length of a submission. Some people keep track of how many pages they write a day. I’m competitive enough (with myself) to want to know how many words I’ve written in each session. I keep an Excell spreadsheet on each project.
