  • We truly believe that social media has the power to make the world a better place. It also created a big impact to the world in unfathomable ways, with a touch of button and a solid connection. In relation with this, do we – the youth, use social media properly? Studies says that 98% of the population has social media accounts – used for education, business, and self leisure. Just like any other forms of communication, how you communicate and use social media is important. What really bugs up our mind is the thought of the youth using social media for bullying, spreading false rumours and other negative forms of use. We’ve compiled a list of ways to use social media properly.

HOW DO WE PROPERLY USE SOCIAL MEDIA?

  1. Be Mindful of Emotions

– There is no way you can get back a message or a post once you hit send, even deleting a negative post might not help if someone like nowadays screenshots your offending message. Take some time to gather your feelings and think about the outcome – after all, no one wants to be internet famous in the very wrong way!

2. Keep Things Authentic

– Be yourself and be friendly on social media to avoid unnecessary drama yet we have to choose the people who we talk to for we do not know the background of the person is – it is not being too judgmental but it is being careful of what we do.

3. Don’t Be Glued to your Smartphone

– Even if how great the virtual world is, there is still a lot to discover and and you can see through in the real world where we are. There are a whole lot of things that you cannot see on your screens. Explore!

4. Learn To Let Go

– Things can get tense on social media. Take the higher road when someone gets disrespectful. You don’t need to respond to every issue – sometimes its better to get a bit of your time thinking about other things better than those comments.

5. Do Not Post Personal Informations

– This rule is helpful to everyone using social media, there are people online who take advantage of your trust – do not give them opportunity! Its better to be safe than sorry.

6. Spread Positivity

– by sharing/ posting inspiring stories. It is not wrong to share to people your story or someone else’s story. Ending the story with a positive message is always helpful to people especially those who are in need of positive vibes. In this way, somehow we already offered help.

7. Speak the Truth

– When posting on social media, make sure that you get the right information about a certain person or an object. It’s better to be safe from arguments especially in this generation.

8. Be Measurable

– Ensure your social media goals are measurable. Having a specific thing to do. It’s better to be prepared than being left hanging at the end not getting what your goal is.

9. Control Yourself

– Control yourself in order for the people to see the problems you have done. Be mindful at every aspect and be respectful in our day to day life.

lastly…

10. Enjoy Social Media!

– Social media can make it almost effortless to stay intouch with family, regardless of location. Use tour intuition when dealing with people online and have fun sharing your experiences with the people you care about.
