Is There a Mindfulness Bubble Waiting to Burst?
Irene Lyon

What I find interesting about this, is that over the past 2+ decades, mindfulness practices provided a growing ability to be with my ANS, to be with arising fear, traumatic and painful memories and to create a compassionate surround for the energy to arise and move through. So, I admit the orientation of this article, that mindfulness training is in essence similar to the housing bubble that will burst and hurt millions, not to be my experience whatsoever. I practice mindfulness to connect to myself somatically, and it has expanded into an integrated practice of continued touching into and connecting with presence “brief moments of awareness” throughout the day. Whereas I often do not prescribe mindfulness to my clients, I do, in fact lead them into their body mindfully, supporting their ability to midwife what wants to emerge into awareness and through.
