Recently, I had a project wherein I turned something that was visually confusing into something that was clean and clear for the user. I posted before and after screenshots in my Facebook stream and someone commented, “So, you made the background green? Big deal.” For me, that summed up how little understood design/UX is for everyday people.
Just because making something work right is complex, doesn’t mean the user needs to know that. The user wants to push a button and go. When you make that happen, you are being genius.
