It’s Not About Race!
John Metta

Unfortunately the average white person, well meaning anti-racist intellectual, or stereotypical scared older American, need this issue translated into their language. It’s what I like to call casual racism. The inability to see the overarching societal problem because they personally don’t discriminate. I’ve learned hard conversations like these go better when I attempt to speak the language of the person I’m talking to, and white Americans are some of the most culturally self centric people in the world. I doubt that the average white person will understand this argument from any other point of view than their own, which is nearly self defeating. The bigger question that needs more time to be answered is how do we break that?
