I’m also a UX filmmaker.

Interesting perspective, Bryant Hodson — true that many applications are empowering users to create their own stories—I think today more than ever. But I think the “story-like” aspect of the designed experience depends what you’re designing, whether it’s primarily content or application. There are many parallels and dissimilarities between film and interactive media—linearity vs. circularity or repetition would be a primary difference; another would be emphasis on emotion vs. cognition, though even that varies. But my focus here was more on the designer’s skills and inclinations than output. Also, you might be interested in reading Cindy Chastain’s work on UX and storytelling.
