Data Center Engineer Demand Already Spike in Indonesia
The recent opening of a data center in Jakarta, Indonesia, has created a demand for a data center engineer. The high-tech city dubbed the “Silicon Valley of Asia,” is home to more than 1,500 technology and startup companies, such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft.

What skills are needed to become a data center engineer
Data center engineers must possess soft and hard skills to keep up with the increasing demand.
The hard skills are technical skills such as computer operating systems and hardware. Regarding educational requirements, there are no official pathways set up expressly for data center engineers. However, several certifications are available to help you get your foot in the door. Two of these include: -The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) -The VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
Soft skills include communication and people management skills. For example, to communicate with other team members, it is necessary to have excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, since the data center is a relatively new field, a data center engineer must also be able to adapt quickly to change, which requires good problem-solving skills.
Many different paths can lead an individual to the career of a data center engineer — many people in this position have college degrees or certifications in fields like business or computer science. Regardless of whether they entered the field with those skills or not, though, what all data center engineers have in common is a need for critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Demand for data center engineers is rising.
The demand for data center engineers has rapidly increased in the past few years. The market eagerly looks forward to the future with more demand for data center engineers. A new survey by a leading industry analyst firm states that the need for data center engineers will increase by 66% in Indonesia by 2023. The increasing demand for data center engineers can be attributed to the rapid growth of businesses using IT services and the rising need to secure their information.
The World Bank and IFC expect that the demand for data center engineers will increase due to the increasing number of Internet users in Indonesia. The report states that by 2020, it is estimated that there will be around 100 million Internet users in Indonesia, or about 65% of the country’s population. By 2025, this number is expected to grow to 140 million Indonesian Internet users (or 77% of the total population).
This rapid growth is expected to help drive an increase in demand for data center services and cloud computing, which will require more space and infrastructure. In addition, more companies are expected to enter the local market and provide IT services to their clients.
This rapid growth will also create more opportunities for data center engineer jobs in Indonesia. The report estimates that by 2023, three out of every four data center engineers in Indonesia will be working in non-traditional areas such as application development and consulting.
