Hi Trent, thanks for reading and taking time out to comment. I am sure your son is doing great. In my day to day work I don’t really need Calculus from the first principal but of course I do to build models but at a very high level.

What fascinates me now a days is the intuition behind these disciplines and nonetheless I get glued to its scientific approach. Hence I read a lot and share with other enthusiasts. I am 33 now, and when I look back to my school days even good teachers did not do a good deal of justice to Mathematics.

There is a very interesting article on this subject called “A Mathematician’s Lament: How School Cheats Us Out of Our Most Fascinating and Imaginative Art Form” by Paul Lockhart. You might want to look it up on the web and it echoes with most of us irrespective of geographies.
