Live Coding Stream — Some News 💜📣

the author preparing for a livestream

I regularly solicit and receive feedback about my live coding stream on Twitch. I usually want to know a few things:

  1. Is the content consistently interesting?
  2. Is there enough variety in what I stream?
  3. Is there any specific topic you’d like to see on my stream?
  4. Am I streaming often enough?

I have heard from several of you that the coherence of my stream layout has room for improvement. The chat box is placed awkwardly, the webcam takes up a lot of room, and it can be difficult to keep context in the terminal when I run commands that dump a lot of logs.

I totally get you, so recently I spent some time improving the look and layout of my desktop scene. I hope you find it makes my stream easier and more enjoyable to watch!✨✏️

Lately, I’ve also been hearing loud and clear that you’d like a) more streams and b) Azure specific stream content. I sometimes work on Microsoft related open source on Sundays (when it’s for a personal side project), but rarely ever show Azure services. IoT Hub has featured briefly once for the Twitch Tiara but that’s about all.

I’m happy to announce that I’ll be addressing both stream frequency and Azure content requests starting this week! 🎉

I will be adding a couple of extra stream sessions a month to start, and they’ll be scheduled on weekdays. There’s no concrete day and time as of yet but things should eventually settle. These weekday streams will be focused around Azure content primarily, and all code will be open and shared after each stream.

I’ll still be sharing personal open source and side projects every Sunday from 11am US EST. No changes will be happening there, so don’t worry!

The first mini-series of Azure I’ll be streaming will be a fun one — Free Tier Time! Azure offers a free tier option for a lot of services, so I’ll be streaming some fun projects you can try out yourself for no cost 🙌🏻

The first Free Tier Time stream will be happening this Friday January 19th, at 1pm US EST. I hope to see you there! I’ll be creating a ‘Meme Reader’ — whatever that means! 🕵🏻‍🔍

Just to repeat — Sunday streams will be happening as normal, and will still be focused on personal projects ❤️

I’m excited to be connecting with you on a more frequent basis, and hope you find the changes to be fun and helpful! 🙇🏼‍

See you online 👋🏻
