Effectiveness of the treatment of infertility

Effectiveness of the treatment of severe male infertility by routine methods is zero.

Thus, whatever was caused by a female or male infertility, the most effective treatment today is in vitro fertilization (IVF), when the merger egg with sperm outside the woman's place. This is achieved as follows: a woman prescribed drugs-stimulants, which lead to the maturation of several follicles in one menstrual cycle. Then, under ultrasound guidance make ovarian puncture and "aspirated" content follicles with eggs. From men get sperm add them to the eggs, put the mixture in an incubator, where fertilization occurs and where the resulting embryos develop within two to six days, after which they are transferred through the cervix into the uterine cavity. With a favorable outcome occurs embryo implantation in the lining of the uterus - pregnancy occurs.

The effectiveness of IVF today is an average of 20-30%, but in some centers, more than 50%. This is a very good result, especially considering that the probability of natural conception in perfectly healthy men and women in one monthly cycle does not exceed 20%.
