The risks and benefits of vaccination
We know that vaccines can produce complications. But we can predict them and take steps to ensure that they were not. Need to advocate with the doctors. One of the positions, which gives our institution, such as doctors who lead mass vaccination, must be continuously learning.
All concerned the risks and benefits of vaccination.
Opinion of Academician Alexander Leonidovich Gunzburg, vice president of Medical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. NF Gamaleya:
- When discussing these issues at the regional and international level is no doubt a good vaccination and its mass use to fight infectious diseases. Vaccination - is the preservation of the lives of millions of children and adults. This reinforces the benefits of vaccination, even without economic calculations. The high cost of treatment of infectious diseases (diphtheria, polio, hepatitis B, etc.) far exceeds the costs of vaccinations.
For each vaccine preparation has its own list of medical contraindications, which is constantly reviewed and improved in order to better vaccination coverage (WHO requirements for coverage of children must be at least 90-95 per cent) and reducing the number of unwanted effects of vaccination. The fact that people with chronic illnesses can be particularly hard to bear infection and even die from complications. Even children with infections caused by HIV, can be vaccinated under the vaccination program under medical supervision.
