EXLskills Live Interviews — A Free CoderPad Alternative
Interviewing developer candidates is one of the most valuable, yet convoluted and oft-overlooked, tasks that a technology team must perform. Today, candidates expect to be assessed through a combination of online tests, calls, meetings, and, hopefully, a live coding test. However, comprehensive and affordable tools for startups and smaller teams to conduct these interviews in a reliable and time-effective way — just like the big guys do — is still unavailable. This is why we created a FREE platform for conducting live coding interviews: EXLskills Live Coding Interviews! We have chosen to keep this platform entirely free, because we firmly believe that a high-quality and ubiquitous platform for employers and candidates is critical to ensuring that we in the IT industry are able to uphold, and that there’s no better way to make a product ubiquitous than to make it free.
Since opening beta availability less than a month ago, over a thousand interviews have been successfully conducted on the EXLskills platform, and we’ve now opened the product to full public availability! Existing EXLskills users receive this product with their existing accounts, and new users can sign up in seconds (for free) to receive full access now!
Users coming from an existing paid platform, such as CoderPad.io, will notice that nearly all features that you expect with your former paid platform are available with EXLskills already, in addition to a number of entirely new and unique features! Some capabilities, such as interview playback, are being shipped in the near future (with backwards support for interviews created before the feature ships).
The process for creating interviews is just as easy as you would expect, create an interview in the platform, share the link, and code+execute in real-time! You can also jot down private interviewer notes, run a full embedded audio/video call, share your desktop (screenshare), dial-in via telephone, and even invite multiple candidates or interviewers to collaborate! The system can easily support upwards of a dozen collaborators in real-time, and video calls can support up to 50 in the video conference mode!
