Are you in Top 5?

Millions of people live on this planet.

Some days you can feel insignificant and lost in the crowd.

But remember that you could be the world to one.

Please take a minute and think about five important people/things in your life that you need to take care of.

Now, look at your work and give yourself a hug if you put yourself in the first place.

Don’t be discouraged — almost nobody puts themselves there. You are not alone.

I remember times when taking a long shower and having a hot cup of tea were a luxury I would not allow myself.

Take a look and see if you put yourself on the list at all. You didn’t? That’s OK too. You are not alone here either.

It’s common for humans to take care of others. First we take care of important people and matters; then we take care of secondary people and matters; and finally we think about taking care of ourselves.

It’s a common habit, but not a good one. In order to take care of the people on your list, you need to take care of yourself first. It’s not selfish!

Taking care of ourselves takes courage, commitment and willingness. Our lives are busy and it’s not so easy to keep a commitment to self-care.

Remember — we deserve to take care of ourselves. It not only nourishes us, but also allows us to be available for important matters and people in our lives.

I am not asking you to do a lot. Maybe just spend a few minutes a day.

Stop running, and listen to your heart.

Find a spot where you can be alone. Make yourself comfortable. Slow down and ask: “How am I feeling? How am I really feeling? What makes me feel that way? What makes me happy?”

Take a few minutes every day to do something that makes you and your body happy.

No one else knows you better than you. And if you don’t take care of yourself, nobody else will.

Remember, in order to care for someone else, you need to care about yourself first.

Now, please take a minute to list (once again) the important people/things in your life you need to take care of.
