I’ve only read up on it briefly, but isn’t Sharia a very broad set of beliefs?
Ellie P.

Sharia is a very broad topic that covers every aspect of life and politics. But sharia law is also very specific and also covers every aspect of human behaviour. In the context of the woman’s march for example, it strictly restricts female behaviour, female sexuality and it basically bans everything from birth control to sex outside of marriage. It also lays down very specific punishments to be meted out to anyone who breaches those laws. Most of the women on that march would have been arrested in Iran and would have been lucky to escape with a public flogging.

ISIS consistently says in its own defence that it is simply acting in strict accordance with Sharia Law; and it is not lying.
