When did Lebanese Christians Start Speaking French?

Extremely interesting article Mr. Taleb (as always),

There is also that ancient “connection” going back to the time of the Crusades (County of Tripoli, etc. which lasted for almost 200 years).

Would be great to hear your perspective on any lasting influence (if any) the Crusades and the crusaders’ (Franks) presence had in Lebanese culture.

Could that be an additional reason for their attraction/openness to French culture?

Best regards
