We (Generation Y) have a good shot to be the 1st generation to live #forever

I just came across the article about Ray Kurzweil’s predictions for the next 25 years and we’re going to some crazy times. And if you didn’t know, this guy is the head of Artificial Intelligence development in Google.

As I was reading individual predictions and taking some time thinking about them, I looked at my girlfriend with a sparkle in my eyes and told her:

We’re quite likely to be the 1st generation to live #forever.

She looked at me sceptically, but I just smiled at her nicely and kissed her. But let’s skip the romance. Actually, I think that we’ll probably live in the cloud for some time till we colonize some planets and get artificial bodies to live in. That’s some crazy sh*t, saying it out loud, but let’s look at some predictions and connect some dots ..

The crucial part in my theory is the assumption that we’ll live that long till we’ll be able to upload our minds into the cloud.

Just look onto this chart and start to think about the possibilities that emerging AI would allow us to do.

When you look at the graph, it predicts, that the computers will have a computational power and intelligence of one human brain somewhere around 2025–2030.

And that’s not just one man thoughts. I was reading a really long article about how’s the AI technology evolving and the guy was basically rehearsing all the things he came to with his research across the internet and more.

He was interviewing several world-leading experts on the AI and asking them when they think, we’ll create a true Artificial Intelligence. The opinions were somewhat different, but most of them assumed, that we’ll create the AI sometime between 2025–2035. WOW!

You have to understand one thing: the AI will evolve on exponential bases. That means that all the discoveries we’d do without AI in next 200–500 years will shorten this process to 5–15 years with the AI, maybe even less.

Yeah, many of you are afraid of AI, that it will either kill us or put us into some cells or zoo’s like we do nowadays with animals.

But again— AI will not only learn exponentially but also change it’s “opinions” very fast. Example:

It takes a generation for humans to change the mindset. AI will do it in a few seconds.

So if AI decides to kill us all, it change its mind in 7 seconds. This is the reason why I think we should be afraid of ourselves much more than of the AI.

But back to my original thoughts. It the article, it’s stated that we’ll be able to upload our minds to cloud in 2030’s.

By the 2030s, virtual reality will begin to feel 100% real. We will be able to upload our mind/consciousness by the end of the decade.

Even if we would not be able to design or produce the necessary hardware to complete this job, AI will definitely come to help here.

When you look at the graph again, we’ll get to the computational power of all the humans by 2050. That’s 35 years from now and Generation Y will be 60–70 years old at that time.

We’ll probably need some 10–15 years more for commercial adoption of this technology and you’d also use some money to get to the front of a very long queue for this technology.

So my advice is this:

Invest, eat healthy and exercise cause you have a good shot to live #forever.
