Can the iPhone be my only computer?
This computer fits in my pocket, because The Future is now
My MacBook is reaching end of life so I was researching buying a new one or replacing it with a iPad Pro.
Then this thought.
In the late 90's I used a Palm Pilot and before I entered the office my calendar, todo list, and notes were always in order. Like others in the tech industry I’d always contemplate if I could do more with it, but with no internet connection and an inconsistent application syncing experience — no way it could properly function as a sole computing device. Not then anyways.
Almost twenty years later I’m getting things done and creating stuff anywhere, anytime with an iPhone 6S. Amazing, right? So for the next few months, might as well experiment using the device as my only computer.
Traveling light is and has been something of a life goal for me, so I’m looking forward to ditching the bag full of stuff. Of course I expect some hiccups along the way but I’m prepared to solve any problem and accept any minor frustrations. Why? Computer-in-my-pocket. That’s why.
Plus, it’s kind of fun to recall the nostalgic memory of a younger me tapping a grey scale screen and scribbling Graffiti with a stylus thinking The Future was happening in 1998.
Maybe it still is now.
