H’moon Food Porn Diary #1

That’s turkish coffee above (in Dubai).

Arabic coffee: lightly roasted, brewed with cardamom.
Mmmm. Scrumbled eggs.
Old Dubai food tour begins…Mr. Ibrahim makes falafel with a harissa-like sauce as filling.
The finished product.
An array of sweets!
Bedouin feast: chicken, lamb and rice.
Fly Emirates. They serve fine, aged Bordeaux.
Now on to Chennai (India). It’s mango season! My grandparents have 5 mango trees in their yard.
This week’s harvest!
Almost ripe enough.

A few days later they are ripe enough to eat. This variety is not at all fibrous, and very juicy. So the best way to eat them is to bite a hole in them, and then suck out the insides!

One thing I love about India is the quality of the produce. This is a vegetable cart that visits my grandma every day. Everything was harvested the day before, locally. It’s been like this for 40+ years. This is the cart in our driveway.

Now on to the Maldives…

Lots of fresh fruit.
Pancakes with pineapple-syrup.

Incredibly rich yolk. I added a little (yellow) hollandaise for contrast.

Fish curry for lunch!
