Bridging Your Assets to Conflux eSpace
In this blogpost, we’ll learn how to bridge your assets from different networks and from Conflux Core Space onto Conflux eSpace. Once we complete these steps, we’ll be ready to swap on Swappi.
About Conflux Spaces
With the recent Hydra hardfork, Conflux introduced Spaces. Spaces are smart contract execution environments. Conflux has 2 Spaces — the Core Space (powered by the Conflux Virtual Machine) and eSpace (powered by the Ethereum Virtual Machine).
A key difference between these two Spaces is the account addressing format. Core Space uses Conflux-type addresses (e.g., cfx:aan75…axg), whereas eSpace uses Ethereum-type addresses (e.g., 0xE2B20…588).
What this means for users is that to interact with dapps on Conflux eSpace, including Swappi, you’ll need a wallet that supports Ethereum-type addresses, such as MetaMask.
Note: MetaMask is currently the only wallet supported by Swappi, but more will come soon.
Understanding Bridges in Conflux
If you’re a Conflux user, you’ve probably used Shuttleflow, a cross-chain bridge that allows you to bi-directionally bridge your assets to and from other networks onto Conflux, such as Ethereum and Binance SmartChain.
With the introduction of Conflux eSpace, you can also bridge your assets to and from other networks, but also across Spaces.
Conflux eSpace has 3 cross-chain bridges (Multichain, cBridge, and Meson) and 1 cross-space bridge (Fluent). The following figure shows the eSpace bridges.
Preparing to Bridge your Assets to Conflux eSpace
To use Swappi, you’ll need a MetaMask wallet connected to Conflux eSpace Click here to learn how to connect your MetaMask wallet to Conflux eSpace.
Transferring CFX to your Conflux eSpace Account
Once you connect MetaMask to eSpace, you’ll need to transfer CFX to your account to pay for gas fees on Swappi.
To transfer CFX from Conflux Core Space, you’ll need to use the Fluent cross-space bridge.
There are 4 ways to transfer CFX to your eSpace account:
1.) Easy. If you already own some CFX, you can transfer it to your eSpace account using the Fluent cross-space bridge. Click here to learn how to transfer CFX and ERC-20 tokens to Conflux eSpace using the Fluent cross-space bridge.
2.) Easy. If you don’t have any CFX, you can buy some on KuCoin. KuCoin supports native transfers to Conflux eSpace. Click here to learn to learn how to transfer CFX to your MetaMask account.
3.) Medium. If you don’t have a KuCoin account, you can buy wrapped CFX on Binance and bridge it to Conflux Core Space using Shuttleflow. Since Shuttleflow uses Conflux’s transaction sponsoring mechanism, you won’t have to pay gas fees on Conflux Core Space to claim your CFX. Once you claim it, you can bridge it to Conflux eSpace using the Fluent cross-space bridge.
4.) Medium. Buying it directly in exchanges such as Gate, OKEx, and Mexo (see the complete list), then transferring it to your Fluent account on Conflux Core Space and bridging it to Conflux eSpace using the Fluent cross-space bridge.
Bridging ERC-20 Tokens from other networks to Conflux eSpace
There are 3 cross-chain bridges that you can use to bring your assets onto Conflux: cBridge, Meson, and Multichain. Each of those bridges supports different networks and tokens. To get a better idea on how to choose a bridge, refer to the Bridging to eSpace table in our docs.
To transfer assets, including ERC-20 tokens, to Conflux eSpace, you can use a variety of cross-chain bridges, such as Meson, Multichain, and cBridge.
Once you select a bridge, you can start bridging your assets.
