Just thought of sharing some of my favourite apps when it comes to traveling, check out the list below in no particular order:
1. Travel Budget

I love this app because it is simple to use and fits most of what I need to keep track of my travel expenses for both personal and travel. Here’s the set of reasons why I love it:
a. Personal or business : You can set whether the trip is personal or business. Simple feature with an icon to distinguish the categories, but it helped to give me an overview of how many personal or business trip that I’ve make in a glance.

b. Local currencies : Neat feature. It helped to give an overview of how much I’m spending in local currency and how much is it in Ringgit Malaysia. I just need to set the currency at the start of new travel budget, and it will automatically recognise this trip is in certain currency. The rate is online rate and it’s definitely lower than what I’ve exchanged but it gives me a sense of how much I’ve been spending which is good.

c. Spending Categories: There’s a set of categories differentiate with icons that represent each category e.g. an airplane for flight cost. Don’t have the category you want, just create one and select the icon you like with it.

2. Airbnb
I don’t think there’s a need to explain why I love this app. It’s nice, clean and easy to browse accommodations that I want to check in whichever location in the world and set my budget in any currency that I preferred. Plus, in a glance, I can pass accommodation that doesn’t have any reviews on it (I always feel more secured if there’s some reviews on the accommodation to find out what was the renting experience was like).

If I like any for later consideration, I can add to my wish list, which I can create category e.g. Frankfurt, Vienna etc. And all messages sent by the host, will also be received by me via text message on my mobile. Would be sweeter if it allowed me to reply via text message to the host too, cos when I’m abroad, I don’t necessary have my roaming on.
If you are someone who travels around the world and prefer to stay in a private apartment/house or room, this app is for you.
3. Triposo
During my recent eastern Europe trip, I regretted bringing my huge, bulky Lonely Planet book. Not only it was heavy, it was a waste of place and I couldn’t bring it out anywhere. And that’s when I discovered my love for Triposo app.

The best feature of this app is the offline map! Forget about googling places to visit on Google Maps and download it offline, just use the offline map on Triposo which served me well when I was traveling in Vienna, Prague and Frankfurt. Just pick the place you want to go, select calculate the distance then follow it, as it also show your current location. You can also create your own city walk by selecting the places of interest (sightseeing, shopping, entertainment etc) and it will show you the route that you can take instead of heading north, south, east or west cluelessly. There’s different cities or country which you can select to download. It’s like Lonely Planet on the go for me. It’s awesome
