Karma works in weird ways
The recent past has been a bit of a struggle, but nothing out of the ordinary for winter time. Especially with an odd one like this year’s being so late and warm.
Work has been ok with the exception of a few team chemistry snafews that need working out. We had a special meeting to lay it all out on the table and hopefully we can move forward without the tension.
A few weeks back, I bought a ticket to a Keys N Krates show for tonight. Thinking it wouldn’t be too crazy to also plan visiting Tim in Philly, I bought bus tickets and a ticket to see Ratatat the following day.
“Man, I really hit the jackpot!” I said to Tim over text. I was so proud I had planned far enough in advance to snag a $11 roundtrip Megabus experience. Keyword: was.
As the dates neared, a nasty storm began to develop in the South and boy did it brew. Of course, it did not falter and of course it became a major deal affecting the whole area of NY and Philly.
Quickly, I realized I might’ve bit off more than I could chew. Well, to be fair, the whole literal shitstorm did not help.
Fast forward to tonight the night of Keys as to not ramble on too much more… Megabus ends up cancelling my departure trip and so I got a $5 refund. Rethinking my own safety now, I bought a train ticket instead ($55) and a later one from Philly ($11). As I’m figuring out travel plans, Tim informs me Ratatat on Saturday got postponed to Sunday night. I check online and lo and behold it is true.
Finally, I scheduled a new ticket to leave Philly, Monday at 5 am because there’s no way in hell I’m missing it after all this. $55 more later, I am now reset to see the two shows.
In the end, Karma truly has its funny ways. One thing led to another and I ran out of time going back to my apt to grab some extra things and missed the show (-$25).
My roommate also texts me during all this and tells me she forgot her keys. Her “keys”. Coincidence? Of all the times too and I could not help out. And with that, what was roughly a $50 trip turned into a $150 one.
