Bonjour Justin,
I had been told by several people that this director made sexist comments in meetings. When I say set the tone, I mean that this first comment sent a signal to all the people who were there. The words of a powerful manager always carry more weight and subordinates will mirror their behavior (sometimes without realizing it). That night, some of the sexist comments were made by men that had never said such things before.
Here’s another example: we have a foosball on our floor. A female colleague told me that she had played many games with her team that were really fun, but the only time she played foosball and this director was there, he kept making comments like “Haha, you put it in her hole !” in front of her whole team, that made her feel very uncomfortable.
Have a good night !
