(Absolutely non-technical. Just learn, hustle and earn! )

Do you love creating doodles, writing quotes and funny puns?

Well, all of us somewhere possesses a creative side, although the extent and expression of creativity may vary from person to person.

But do you know, there’s an amazing side hustle that just demands your creativity and imagination.

On top of that, it’s not that much technical, neither too time-consuming!

Can you guess, what’s that side hustle?

Alright folks!

Time for some drumrolls, and here’s the secret side hustle — Selling SVGs.

Yes! SVG files are a popular digital product among crafters, not only crafters but among people who’re actually interested in some sort of creative work.

These files are definitely your ticket to making money.

Imagine designing something cool, putting it online, and getting paid while you chill on your couch.

Isn’t that amazing?

I guess that would be really amazing.

Before moving ahead and telling you everything about how to create such files, let’s first understand about them.

1. What are SVGs?

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics.

It’s a digital file type that keeps your drawings or designs sharp and clear, no matter how big or small you want them to be.

They’re not like your regular pictures that you take with your camera.

They have a special ability i.e., the ability to scale, means you can make them bigger or smaller without losing any quality.

So, whether you’re making a tiny logo for a website or a huge poster for a wall, SVG files ensure your designs always look fantastic.

Now, that you’ve an idea about SVG files, it’s time for the next step.

2. How to Find a Niche?

Your niche is your playground, and the best part? There are no rules!

This line aptly describes the way one should choose niche.

Choosing a niche or sub-niche is definitely one of the crucial things, for any content creator!

When you’re just starting out with any side hustle, try to choose a broad niche.

The same theory also applies to this side hustle.

Instead of focusing on some seasonal niches, try and pick some evergreen niches, like — Coffee, Dogs, Cats, Football, Dad, Mom, etc.

Although seasonal niches perform well, but you also need to pay attention to the quantity of your products.

Initially, focus on building your portfolio.

Always remember, the more content you have the better chances of ranking on any platform.

If you’re finding it difficult to choose the trending niches, you can use some online platforms to validate your niche ideas, like Google, Pinterest, Etsy, Creative Fabrica, Freepik, etc.

Make a list of those evergreen niches and save them in a doc or excel file.

I personally created my niche list in Google Docs (but you can choose what suits you).

3. Crafting Irresistible SVG Taglines: The Secret Sauce

Now, this is one of the most crucial steps.

Once you’ve selected your niche, it’s time to come up with designs and phrases.

Some SVG files can be created using graphics only, but some SVG files need to have a tagline or a phrase or a pun, whatever you call it.

If you’re good at creating graphics SVG, you can do that, but if you want to create a unique SVG bundle, you’ve to come up with some unique taglines.

While crafting your SVG bundle, you can use some evergreen phrases related to your niche.

Understand this with the help of the given example.

Suppose you’re going to create a COFFEE SVG BUNDLE, now, coffee is already a popular niche and there’re a tons of popular phrases which you can find on Google or on any search engines.

Just type in your keyword followed by a related keyword and then see the results Google provides.

You can use the once you like.

But you don’t have to just copy and past all the phrases you’ve found on Google, you’ve to create a mix and by mix I mean 40 % evergreen phrases and 70 % unique phrases.

Now, you might be wondering, how should I find so many unique phrases for my bundle.

Don’t worry! We’ve an amazing tool, that will help you in this task, our very own — PINTEREST.

Pinterest is one of my most favorite platforms, when it comes to do research for any project, you can also use this platform to get inspiration for your SVG phrases.

Go to Pinterest, type in your keywords and then type quote or phrase, you can also type funny taglines followed by your keyword.

Have a look at the given snippet.

From here, you can mix match some phrases or twist their endings or beginnings just to add some spice.

4. Creating SVG Designs

This is also a crucial step!

There are tons of ways to design your SVG, but I personally use Canva.

If you don’t want to use Canva, you can also use some other alternatives. Check out this blog, where I’ve compiled some incredible Canva alternatives.

Creating SVG designs with Canva feels super simple and time-saving.

The best part about using Canva is, you don’t have to be a designing wizard.

You can create eye-catching designs, just by using the drag and drop interface.

To create an SVG file, choose 5000*5000 pixels (that’s what I choose for my files, because I export my files in 10000*10000 pixels, just to ensure high quality).

Use the graphics and fonts available in Canva to create your designs.

This is one of the designs which I created for my Halloween SVG Bundle.

Once you’re happy with your design, go to Share and export your file as SVG (You need to have a Canva Pro account if you wish to export your file in this file format)

Note: If you don’t want to use Canva Pro, you can use some other alternatives like, Illustrator, Photoshop, SVGator, etc.

5. Setting Up Your Store

So far, we’ve chosen our niche, created the design, now, it’s time for the final step — Creating a store!

Start by choosing an e-commerce platform that suits your need.

There are a number of platforms that can help you in selling your creative assets.

Some of them are Etsy, Creative Fabrica, Freepik, Design Bundles, etc.

I sell my SVG files on platforms like Etsy and Freepik.

Selling on Etsy

Selling on Etsy is a simple and exciting process!

First, sign up for an account on Etsy.com.

On the bottom of the website, you can see an option titled as — Sell on ETSY.

Set up your shop by following some general steps. (You can take help of some YouTube tutorials for opening your shop)

Once your shop is set up, create listings for your products.

Etsy charge 0.20 USD (depends on your currency) for each item that you list for sale on this platform.

If you wish to open your Etsy store, click here to get your 40 FREE LISTINGS.

While creating your listings, upload high-quality images, write engaging descriptions, and set reasonable prices.

That’s what Etsy loves the most!

After that promote your shop on social media platforms like Pinterest to drive organic traffic and engage with potential customers.

Selling on Creative Fabrica

Creative Fabrica is a hub of creative individuals.

Whether you talk about fonts, graphics, SVGs, Print on Demand assets, Creative Fabrica has it all!

You must check out this platform if you’re into a creative side hustle.

Although this platform is quite popular among the masses because of its amazing assets, you can also use this platform to sell your SVG files.

SVG files are a popular asset on Creative Fabrica.

Have a look at the given listings:

Selling your SVG files here means reaching out to a community that truly understands and appreciates the effort you put into your work.

But to sell, on Creative Fabrica, you need to fill out an application form.

Just go to https://www.creativefabrica.com/it/open-store/.

Click on Open your Own Shop. Now, sign in using your mail.

After signing in, you’re supposed to fill a form that looks like this:

Fill out the form.

Click on the Submit button. Your form will be reviewed by the Creative Fabrica team and if everything seems ok, they’ll give you a green signal.

Selling on Freepik

Freepik is also one of the best platforms that I’ve ever come across, not only in terms of the assets but also in terms of the earning potential.

I’m also working on this platform as a contributor and I’ve managed to earn a decent amount of money working passively on this platform.

Check out this blog where I walk through step-by-step process of selling on this platform.

6. Promoting Your Work

This is the last but the most crucial step.

Promoting your work is somewhere essential in this digital world because the competition is too high and you need to put in some extra efforts to tell people that you EXIST!

By promoting your work, you’re essentially sharing your story, your creativity, and your unique perspective with a broader audience.

And that’s what we need!

Let me clarify one thing.

I’m not suggesting you to spend your hard-earned money in advertising, what I suggest is using free social media platforms, and then leverage their power to get organic traffic.

You can use platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, etc. to promote your work.

I’ve put together a comprehensive list to help you elevate your Pinterest game. Check it out here!

That’s it peeps!

Try this side hustle and let me know your views on it.
