All of the things you learned through hard knocks, I learned very early (as a teenager) because my father wanted me to be responsible with money. If parents aren’t teaching their children to manage finances, it should be taught in school. Let’s have less social engineering in K-12 and more math, science, economics, and personal finance training. 25–30 year olds owe thousands upon thousands of dollars that will cripple them for years. They need to understand why and how they are getting themselves in over their heads.
