Why Peyton Needs His “1 Last Rodeo” to be in Cowboy Country

Well the title is kind of a tease but after much deliberation I have decided that the best place for Peyton Manning to play next year is for the Houston Texans. Why no one is talking about this move is beyond me as the stars just line up so perfectly. I know the media is obsessed with him retiring but nobody knows what is going to happen other than Peyton and the Manning family. Does it make sense to retire? No doubt about it, can he play 1 maybe two more years? Only his competitive nature will allow him to do so as his body sure wont. Here is why this move makes sense.

First things first if you all watched the Steelers vs. Broncos playoff game it was as clear as day that Peyton cannot throw the ball in windy, rainy, or cold weather. The Steelers, who were missing about 80% of their offense, should have won that game. I still think that if the Patriots took their game against the Dolphins seriously and got home field advantage they would have playing the Panthers in the super bowl. Not that the weather in Denver was great but toss in a little bit more cold and wind and take away the snap advantage they had and Brady gets hit half as much. That is beside the point though, what I am trying to say is if Peyton wants to come back and actually play and play well he only has 7 options, teams that play in Domes/Retractable Roof Stadiums. That list includes Atlanta, New Orleans, Detroit, Houston, Arizona, Dallas, and Indy. It’s fairly small sample size and obviously his home games were outdoors but last year his QBR outdoors vs indoors last year was 63 vs 101.7. As you can see when you lay it out like that it’s a pretty easy decision. Not only is Houston relatively close to his roots but he would start for that team while it searched for or drafted a young QB. They have a good defense anchored by the best in the game and they just made the playoffs with two backup QB’s. Bringing in Peyton would add a spark to the fan base and allow him to transition to the coaching staff as they groom a predecessor. A match made in heaven.
