Babble

Mattias Adolfsson

I once wrote a poem

that veered off to the side.

Despite my intention

to cover my hide

it revealed my ineptitude

and injured my pride.

To my mortal embarrassment

it kept tending left

and the longer I wrote it

the more perversely it leaned

until I felt downright bereft.

My talent has dumped me

in the dust.

My poetry has shamed me

until I cried.

The result is not good

as you can see

but share I will

and share I must

if I would learn

humility.

I swore that I would

never delete

so here it is

my babbling feat.

If you’ve read this far

you’re very sweet.
