Renting out a spare room is capitalist.

Aren’t you oversimplifying things to suit your point? Airbnb isn’t marketing itself as signing up to hire one of many ‘capitalistic’ landlord’s beds. It touts itself as a community builder. It makes its users feel like they’re getting an authentic local experience by connecting with hosts and living like a local. They’ve used this hipster, community marketing and then building a mega scale business out of it. I have used Airbnb. It is turning private residences into mini hotels, and although I have personally benefited because I got a good room for cheaper than hotel rates, I can clearly see how this would create real problems if everyone started doing it.
