Friday August 31, 2018 Yucca Valley Trojans took on Orange Vista Coyotes. The YVHS jv football team coming close with a score of 0-6 they took a tough loss. With many new players on the jv team and many new comers to the jv cheer team, some of them shared their experiences on their first games. "Our JV cheer team did amazing and im extremely proud to be cheering for such a strong and dedicated team, it was very diiferent from what I expected. I definitely expected to be nervous but I loved it. This is my first year on cheer and the team has been working very hard and it payed off. Being a cheerleader at the game instead of a spectator is very different. Im definetly going to continue cheering for the rest of my highschool years." Elaura Lopez Spohmore at YVHS. Caleb Harvey, Sophmore and new comer on Jv football team also told me about his experience as well. " I was confident that our team was going to play well and we did. Our defense was definetlly one of our strengths and there was just alot of confusion n offense. there is always room for improvement and we really need to focus on studying our plays. My goal for the games was to put in 100% effort in every part of the game. It feels great being on the field." As for the YVHS varsity team, they also took a tough loss with the score being . A Varsity senior, Caleb Robinson, shared some of his words. "I came into this game knowing it was a physical team and i've been playing for nine years. Our greatest strength was that we never gave up and pushed ourselves as a team. Our weaknesses included not being metally prepared and focused. I've dedicated my whole life to playing football and I don't know where I would be without it." Another Varsity senior, Holly Gessler, stated, "I very much enjoy being on this team. Being the only girl isn't weird to me. I consider myself equal to the rest of the players. I do feel that we couldvé done a lot better. These next games we are really going to push ourselves and strive a lot harder." As for the varsity cheer, Teyha Salas, a new comer also stated her opinion. "It definetly made me nervous cheering in front of people I knew because im not used to people watching me but it made me feel better that I wasnt the only one and that my team was with me. I was so proud of my team." Our teams played well and trued their best. This season is going to be great due to the fact that we have amazing teams. Dont forget to come to all of the games!
