This will primarily be used for writing about soccer, particularly MLS and the USMNT. While I cover the team as a beat writer for Dirty South Soccer (SB Nation’s Atlanta United blog), I want to use this as an outlet for broader soccer topics.
A little about me: I’ve been a digital journalist for about a decade. In recent years, I’ve been honored to cover many sporting events, including theU.S. men’s national team’s World Cup Qualifier in Denver against Trinidad & Tobago, Atlanta United’s inaugural season, college football, basketball, tennis, and much more. Through my affiliation with Dirty South Soccer, though, I’ve been able to have a front-row seat to the team’s development and have been blown away at how the city of Atlanta (and beyond) has embraced this club. It’s not every day you get to watch a professional sports franchise from the ground up, and having that opportunity this year has been a highlight for me.
More to come soon, but I hope that you’ll follow along and enjoy what you read!
Sam over at DSS was at Atlanta United’s training session today — here’s some of what he was able to get from there as they prepare for D.C. United tomorrow. I’m sure Atlanta don’t want to be reminded that out of the ten goals D.C. have scored this season (in 15 matches!), three were scored against them on April 30 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
