The Effects of Love

By Sydni Hall

I used to be afraid of love,

Averting my eyes from the flame of passion,

My heart yearning for what my mind was void of.

I fell for you in a swift fashion,

Our us makes me free; no longer guarded,

my coldness transformed to compassion.

While others left my love disregarded,

My hope withered under the cloud of self-doubt,

Your affection has left my heart bombarded.

You are the spring to my everlasting drought,

You refresh my mind like dew,

You are the sun under which I sprout.

My reflection in your eyes depicts me brand new,

By now can you tell that I love you?
