How GOT is not the same anymore
So I was looking forward to watching what GOT had to offer in the ninth episode as the hodor moment was in my opinion the biggest scene of GOT and unfortunately I was correct.
Just to be clear this is a rant hence subjective.
The sixth season has lost some of the most basic elements of GOT which makes GOT well GOT. One of them is the element of surprise.
Nowhere in this season was I surprised(except hodor moment). The second one is GOT has a strict reality check, no mercy policy which you can see being broken when Sansa and to some degree Arya being saved. And not lastly GOT is now taking the clichéd and easy route in both writing and directing. Sansa would have never smirked if this was old GOT. This isn’t a bad boys shoot where the cars are exploding and the hero walks away with sunglasses on, in slow-mo.
Jon would have never ran after his brother when he died. May be before but not now when he was a lord commander, came back from the dead, had the trust of wildlings and other houses resting on him.
This bastards battle was epic but it had too many flaws for me to enjoy. How can a pile of bodies so big form? A pile of 4–5 people pile is acceptable but this was not justifiable also the directors shows no reason for a pile this big to exist.
The last thing about this episode which I could never forgive is why the giant had no weapon nor armour, instead he’s reduced to role of a T-rex. If u expand on this than the shield formation would have been totally useless, as one swipe and it would break.
Making khaleesi so powerful is also a mistake. At least show that the battalion of those ships at least, at least tried to hit the dragons.
Don’t get me wrong I am a huge GOT fan and may be because of this I am so hurt that such a perfect show is being destroyed by mediocrity.
The show has IMO submerged to public opinion. They have now become like the smart phones of today every year you get almost double powerful processor, more pixels camera, better DPI screens but now after 2–3 years people have literally become bored of new smart phones because there’s nothing new. This is what this episode has done they have given us more and better things but at the price of being not being different, not being creative, but sadly the easy sail to sunset ending.
Its not the magic, the white walkers even the dragons which made this show unique, but the suspense of not knowing, which made it great.
I think a major reason is because George R. R. Martin hadn’t written the sixth book so he could only supervise the story so the exact details had to be made up by screen writers and directors and THIS is the main reason why this season is not that good.
Now after the EU situation the show might get budget cuts and difficulty in shooting locations and the show might get even worse.
