I was on a conference call today with our 5 member team. The discussion was based on raising the capital needed for a successful launch into retail shops in March 2017. The capital required exceeds 1 million dollars and is needed within 60 days. The thought of 1 million dollars in debt or equity makes me uncomfortable because of my own fears, but amidst this discussion I became calm. The founder of the company has so much grit and tenacity that any objections we had in our discussion she countered with not only logic but passion. It's hard to argue with someone more convicted in a position than you.
LESSON: Champion the Champions — put your bets on those who believe without a shadow of doubt that they will be successful.
Your first interaction of the day truly bears weight on how the rest of your day will go. Sometimes it’s a text message, an email or a news article that stirs some emotion and changes your “headspace” before your feet touches the ground. My aunt called me this morning around 6:30 am which is pretty early for me — we spoke for an hour about family dinners, babies and my siblings. The call reminded me of what truly matters beyond all things. Take some time to call or text a friend in the mornings — you’ll be surprised how it will change your lens for the day.
