Background

In the case study that I am working on, I want to evaluate the new design for the GrabFood application that has been created, because in the previous design there were still many users who found it difficult to use it.

Objective

  1. Knowing the behavior of users who want to use the discount voucher feature on the GrabFood application
  2. Knowing the difficulties found when you want to use the discount voucher feature on the GrabFood application
  3. Knowing whether the new design of GrabFood has made it easier for users when they want to use the discount voucher feature

User Criteria

  1. Active user of GrabFood in a year
  2. Have ever applied the discount voucher when ordering at least one time
  3. Female/male, 18–55 years old

Total User: 5

Method

Qualitative — Usability Testing

Prototype Testing

Scenario: Imagine if you are busy and do not have time to go out to buy food, you also have a limited budget. How do you apply a discount voucher on the GrabFood app?

Task:
Ordering food and opening the discount voucher page

Users participating in this Usability Testing:

  • Male, 23 Years Old, Bank Employee
  • Female, 22 Years, Freshgraduate
  • Male, 24 Years Old, Master’s Degree Student
  • Female, 22 Years, Digital Marketer
  • Male, 22 Years, Management Trainee

Discussion Guide

1. How long have you been using the GrabFood application?
2. Do you often use discount voucher features?
3. How do you choose a discount voucher?
4. How was your experience while trying to browse the discount voucher feature just now?

Usability Testing Report

In this Usability Testing, the participants were able to complete the given scenario task. All participants agreed that the new design made it easier for them to complete the task.

However, there are still some things that need to be improved, such as the use of uppercase and lowercase letters in the design. There are still many that look inconsistent. Then, writing on the notification above the basket button would be better placed in a visible place so that the user would notice it.

Key Findings

  1. 5 out of 5 interviewees said the new design is easier and clearer compared to the previous app design
  2. 3 out of 5 interviewee mentioned that they didn’t notice the notification above the Basket button because it is too small
  3. Some writing still shows inconsistency
