November Updates
We’ve released new updates to improve your Synapse experience. Download the updated version today.
Tokenization of login data (OAuth 2.0)
We never store your critical or sensitive financial information on your device. Now, with our new update, we don’t even save your Synapse account’s login information to your device. Instead, when you login to Synapse your device is assigned a unique login token. This token is the only information stored on your device. Every time you open a new Synapse session you receive a new login token, protecting your information from theft.
This is a huge improvement to our infrastructure. This update brings us one step closer to opening up our APIs to third party developers. Synapse is a platform, not just an “app.” We want developers to reimagine ways to leverage our network to help customers.
Password protected lock screen added for extra security
Users with non-touch ID phones and devices are now prompted to enter their password every time they open Synapse. This extra level of security prevents your friends (and foes) from making an unauthorized transaction with your device. This is especially important as Synapse is increasingly used for large dollar transactions.
Login support for Regions and SunTrust
Regions and SunTrust customers are now able to enjoy instant fund transfers up to $50. Other supported banks include Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, US Bank, USAA, Schwab and CapitalOne 360. Of course, if you bank with someone outside our network your funds will still transfer to your Synapse account within 1–2 days.
Location services no longer mandatory
We understand that privacy is a priority for our users. Starting with this update, sharing your GPS data with Synapse is optional. Giving Synapse access to your GPS data helps us more accurately list the vendors around you. However, we want our users to have the ability to control any information shared with us.
