I read an interesting piece just a day or so ago highlighting a timeline of missteps by the company before and after Marissa took over, it was very interesting. Yahoo did a lot of things first or at least did them well first, but it never seemed able to evolve it well, and ultimately as a user you end up drifting. It has over the years put up a hell of a fight and that deserves a lot of respect. The people behind the scenes fighting for it do too. Thinking of all the services and platforms that were so crucial to our digital existence that are long dead and gone now yahoo did pretty damned well.
