I want to highlight this whole section (it wouldn’t let me pfft), I want to frame it and carry it around like a banner. I want to thwack all the noisy bystanders with it, and say “This is why the political establishment keeps telling progressives to fuck off”.
You’ve written two really damn good pieces it’s hard to comment on one as a whole like this (let alone taken together) as they are long and detailed, but both have reminded me how easy it is to get sucked in by the emotion-tugging meme machine that is modern day discourse. You’ve also offered me some perspective as a Sanders supporter that I possibly shouldn’t be so bitterly disappointed by Clinton, and that Sanders did have some valid weak spots. (Having someone like Sanders with even a tiny hope of getting the nomination was extremely exciting to someone who finds themselves far left of American politics in general)
There are things I’d like to see cleared up better in terms of corruption (not necessarily on the part of Hillary herself) but I won’t list them here because I haven’t done the fact checking so these things might be easily explained, or trumped up on further examination. — I find this is a big problem these days, I love the internet, but it does lend itself as a tool to clouding the waters, it can take a lot of legwork to actually vet a source or what they’re saying since anyone can have a platform and say whatever they want.
Also, thank you for the amount of time it took to put these together, this is a decent amount of uncompensated work you’ve done to raise the bar of discussion.
