Five Misleading Advice We Often Hear

  1. Always be positive.

It’s impossible. There’s a reason why we have bad days. Struggles and problems may not be pleasant but they are instruments for our growth. Negative things should be felt because it’s only when we acknowledge them that we find the strength to go beyond them.

2. Good things come to those who wait.

Sometimes. But if you really want something, you have to go out there and get them. Life is an endless quest for goals and dreams. You can only get to where you want to be once you decide you will do whatever it takes to there.

3. Don’t let any opportunity pass by.

Uhm, no. Not every opportunity is worth taking. There’s a reason why you’ve been given options and it’s because you have to choose which one matters most to you. If you’re having a hard time picking, then go with what scares you the most. It’s usually the one that will take you out of your comfort zone.

4. Don’t ever quit, endure until it becomes easy.

Easy to say, hard to do. No matter how much you endure, it will never be easy if you don’t see any value with what you do. Sometimes, it’s okay to leave if you know that leaving will save you from feeling emptier with each passing day. Life is too short to spend your time in routines you don’t even find meaningful.

5. When you love someone, no matter what happens, don’t ever let them go.

Love doesn’t always equate to staying. Sometimes, it also means giving chances and letting go of the one you love the most because it’s for the best. Loving someone means giving everything, including their freedom to be happy without you.
