Core Developer Jag Sidhu ran a parallel execution test: 200 million TPS!

Core developers Jag Sidhu and Justin Silver ran a parallel execution test for the first time ever with ECDSA secp256k1 sig. verification happening concurrently, giving a 350% performance increase on a 4 core mac pro. From Jag: “So I get about 80k sig verifications per second on my 4 core mac. That equates to 800k sig in a 10 second window (remember ZDAG min latency is 10 seconds). We have 250 max receivers per asset transfer. This means up to 200 million TPS assuming no network latency!”

Summary of the weekly AMA with Dan Wasyluk

  • Dan headed to an investor conference in Muskoka sat/sun and then back to Toronto Mon/Tues for an investor roadshow. Dan: “In Muskoka we are meeting with investors we haven’t met before so there will lots of sharing”.
  • Dan: “We have some cool stuff cooking internally. I wanna wait til it’s a little more mature to share but we’ve been talking a lot of about protocol improvements and capabilities. We’re going to be sharing more on that very soon, we just need to formalize the plan before we share anything. In a nutshell it’s some very major protocol enhancements combined with new products and opportunities enabled by those enhancements. We’re researching a bunch of other major projects to make sure what we’re developing is both as good and better than those platforms while offering new features and leveraging the speed of the Syscoin network. Also a roadmap is being shared soon on this.”
  • Dan: “We have some very cool working R&D at the moment: TPS, EVM, IPFS, Layer 2 solutions that can be combined with SYS to create amazing new services and capabilities faster and more flexibly than you could ever do with Syscoin today. We are exploring new services within our R&D as well, among others Anchoring, DEx, Oracles, Data Storage etc. We will share more as soon as we’re confident what we are sharing is something we can effectively execute on and provide a clear roadmap for that execution, since its a very big vision.”
  • Dan: “It reinforced for me the fact we should build a decentralized marketplace in a way that’s aligned with our business strategy rather than focusing efforts solely on the ICO things”.
  • Keyare: “Regarding development and business focus our way to go is:
    1) Build the platform to support all use-cases
    2) Promote to all industries looking at blockchain.

Summary of the Weekly AMA with J

J: “As Dan mentioned in one of his AMAs, we’re reviewing some potential licensing stuff around our planned open sourcing — those projects listed last week are still planned to be “OS’ed” unless we find on review there is some monumental IP that we’re missing (Dan and Jag are reviewing these and they’re both super geniuses, so I’d say the chances of us having missed anything here is “unlikely”). Syscoin-JS is mainly feature complete at this juncture. I was running dockerized integration tests today. Also cool to see for those of you like me who have previously used Syscoin-Core and Syscoin-API is the concept of whitelisted/blacklisted logging.”

J: “As for everything else, pretty status quo this week; beginning of Oct more of the team moves into dedicated Pangolin development; we’ve also had some of the internal people playing around with the core so as to get some cross-functional competencies started up. BMD development will continue in parallel with Pangolin till BMD 3.2 release, at which point there’ll be a choice point w/ the team as to how many others join Pangolin, depending on company initiatives and projects at that time. Also for those nerds among us, we’ve created a fork of the really cool _ow_ javascript validation library (as it had a small bug that kept it from running in an SPA, plus we wanted it to throw a better formatted error). For those of you who care about validation (hopefully all of you devs).”
