Inspr on ProductHunt

A couple days ago, our team released Inspr on app store. It is an iOS app for design mockups. The day after its launch, we post it on Product Hunt, and surprisingly Inspr got a lot of attention and became #2 product featured on Product Hunt on November 19. People are giving constructive feedback and asking for more features. It is really nice to see so many people are interested in it. So what is Inspr?

I am an app developer. I don’t make apps just for my job, but also for ideas flashed into my mind. When an idea sparks in my head, I usually visualize it right away. Visualization is an important step to know whether the ideas are feasible and attractive. And visualization is a window of your brain to the other people. A picture is worth a thousand words.

But what choices do you have to visualize an app idea? Draw it on the paper? Yes, drawing it is the most straightforward way to translate your ideas into a picture. I always draw something on my notebook, but not everyone can easily understand your drawing. It all depends on your drawing skill. Drawing on the paper can let you easily iterate the idea to yourself, but it is not an ideal solution to show your ideas to friends.

What about the other tools? A professional designer friend might tell you to purchase “Sketch” or “Adobe Illustrator”. These are excellent tools, but they are designed for professionals. And they require some steep learning curve and not cheap for everyone who just want to visualize a random idea.

So, we create a tool — Inspr, a straightforward app design tool that is dead simple to use. It is a mobile app, and any design you make will be reflected on the screen directly. Most important of all, you can create any app design anywhere on your phone when an idea sparks.

During the development of Inspr, we invited a lot of end users to test our app. We watch how users draw out an idea, and what’s the problems they have on the app. We found out that using a small screen to craft an design could be challenging, so we kept iterating the user test and improving our editing engine to allow users move or resize each element as accurate as possible.

Design is everywhere, inevitably everyone is a designer.

Since we want everyone to be able to make vivid and beautiful designs, we prepare a lot of native components, icons, and templates for people to start with. Even if you are a beginner, you can start with a simple template and make changes to it and turn it into your new design. A beautiful app design could be done in minutes, and you can share it as an image to friends or colleagues to express your ideas more precisely.

Designs by Inspr

We are still improving Inspr by giving it more features, including integrating with a prototyping tool to create an interactive prototyping, or exporting to Sketch to continue the editing.

Please try Inspr, and let us know your thoughts. We are eager for your feedback.
